Cilla

Currently in the UK, Monday night television is showing a biopic about Cilla Black. With his many links to Cilla Ringo is of course featured and played by Tom Dunlea. I haven't yet had a chance to watch the show so can't state an opinion, but it's reviews so far are glowing and I'd definately recommend it to fans of Ringo and The Beatles due to all of the obvious links.

To tie in with this, I thought I'd share these images from when Ringo appeared on Cilla's variety show on 6th February 1968. He appeared as a guest during the opening credits and featured with Cilla in a number of sketches. In the first he assisted Cilla in sorting through her fan mail and then introduced her singing performance of I'm Playing Second Fiddle To A Football Team. In a second sketch, with fellow guest ventriloquist Peter Brough, Ringo performed with his own 'dummy' which was Cilla dressed as a school girl. Ringo and Cilla then duetted unaccompanied on the 1905 song Nellie Dean, and then finished by singing and dancing to a 1917 song entitled Do You Like Me?

"Cutie"

I have this image saved into my files simply under "cutie". Appropriate I think?

International Day of Peace

I've been meaning to post this image for a while but time has gotten away from me! I've neglected this blog a little as of late, but I assure you it will never be abandoned, I've just been busy (incidentally with a project based on Ringo!).

Today being the international day of peace felt like a perfect day for this gif. On September 4th John Varvatos Rocks London happened to celebrate his first store in Europe opening. Of course Ringo was there, amongst a host of others (the entire street was closed there were so many attendees!) and there are endless amounts of photographs. However the above was my absolute favourite of them all, as I'm also a huge Adam Ant fan so I love seeing my two idols so pally!

Also if you're in LA today you should be sure to check this out:

John Varvatos and Ringo Starr continue their #PEACEROCKS initiative with an outdoor celebration and performance on the International Day of Peace, Sunday, September 21, 2014. The celebration will take place in front of the John Varvatos store located on Melrose and Robertson from 4-6pm and will include a brief performance including a song from each member of an All Starr Band featuring Edgar Winter, Steve Lukather, Richard Page and more – and closing with three songs performed by Ringo Starr. Looks like a fun time!
