Congrats Ringo! ♥

It's been announced that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is finally giving Ringo the respect he deserves and inducting him in 2015. It makes me furious that it's taken so long, and that it took the backing of Paul McCartney and Dave Grohl to make it even happen in the first place. I don't place much importance in the whole thing to be honest, there are so many amazing musicians being ignored and disrespected that it makes the entire thing a complete farce. Ringo deserves this not just for being a Beatle, but for his solo career achievements too. He was the first Beatle to have a number one solo single in the US, and had just as many hits as both John and George (and more than Paul, as most of his were with Wings). Ringo's recognition is long overdue and my sincerest congratulations to him.

Ringo's Yellow Submarine

Here is a great read by Doug Thompson, an interviewer and writer who visited Ringo at Tittenhurst Park in 1983 to record the Ringo's Yellow Submarine radio show for ABC Radio Network. The above photographs are from the article showing Doug with Ringo during this time.

I Dream of Jeannie

With Barbara Eden (better known as Jeannie form I Dream of Jeannie) attending a pre-New Year's party. Excuse the ugly watermark on the last image, but I couldn't find it without and it was too nice to leave out.

The Snowman Song

In 1971 Ringo visited Norway to shoot a segment for Cilla Black's TV show (which aired on Saturday, November 27, 1971 and you can see here).

Liberty's

Attending an exhibition at Liberty's in London on September 13 1971 (which is also the day Stella McCartney was born, and his son Zak's 6th birthday if you care for the trivia)

"I thought he looked very frail. He'd just come out of the hospital, of course, and then flown 12,000 miles almost non-stop, so maybe it was no wonder." - Jimmie Nicol

Cilla

Currently in the UK, Monday night television is showing a biopic about Cilla Black. With his many links to Cilla Ringo is of course featured and played by Tom Dunlea. I haven't yet had a chance to watch the show so can't state an opinion, but it's reviews so far are glowing and I'd definately recommend it to fans of Ringo and The Beatles due to all of the obvious links.

To tie in with this, I thought I'd share these images from when Ringo appeared on Cilla's variety show on 6th February 1968. He appeared as a guest during the opening credits and featured with Cilla in a number of sketches. In the first he assisted Cilla in sorting through her fan mail and then introduced her singing performance of I'm Playing Second Fiddle To A Football Team. In a second sketch, with fellow guest ventriloquist Peter Brough, Ringo performed with his own 'dummy' which was Cilla dressed as a school girl. Ringo and Cilla then duetted unaccompanied on the 1905 song Nellie Dean, and then finished by singing and dancing to a 1917 song entitled Do You Like Me?
